George Edgar Wardill was the son of John Jackson and Mary Ann Wardill. He was one of 9 children. He joined the army on 10 January 1916. At that time he was an engineer, aged 29 year,s 345 days old, married and living at 24 Kingston Road, Romford, Essex. He had served in the armed forces previously in the Essex.His Army record showed that he had been a member of the 14th Heavy Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery. George Edgar died at his home (11 Brooklands Road, Romford) on 14 September 1919 , presumably from wounds/injuries received during his war service. [Source: Susan Dyke – family researcher]
